"We - I mean all of us - we haven’t forgotten Chernobyl. We never understood it. What do savages understand about lightening?"
Valentin Borisevich, from the book Voices of Chernobyl. I really can’t get over how gripping, and haunting, and saddening this book is. All of the recounts have a couple of recurring themes - relating the nuclear disaster back to the war, being kept in the dark by the government, and generally just not understanding the full length and breadth of the issue.
