barker
this trip home from barker was so picturesque tonight. seeing the world through the rain on the windshield, being temporarily pushed aside to make room for the new droplets, is almost like seeing the world through rose coloured glassed. i love the rain, and the cold, and the fog. it makes everything seem so cleansed, and it completely relaxing.
my favourite part of driving down the freeway is the stretch of road with no street lights. especially at night, when there are no visible cars, and the lights of adelaide shine from behind the hill. and every now and then, and car will round the bend either from behind or in front, and a little bit more of the world lights up. but you can always see the lights before you see the car.
i like the way the rain makes surfaces shiny. the illuminated speed signs of the freeway reflect off of the road, making a nice blend of blue and red on the black bitumen. the street lamps get their own private place on the ground. what was once boring, no longer is.
i have this place that i go, when i need to think, or take time out. a lot of you know what it is, but not where it is. there’s only two other person who know that. it has a a spectacular view of adelaide - the whole city is visible. the lights of the santos building are clear, as are other buildings in the city. the port can be seen. 180 degree view of adelaide stretching right to the beach. on my way home tonight, i went up there. because of the rain, the city was not clear - everything appeared sort of blurry. which somehow made it even more beautiful.
in other news, i officially have a freelance adventureologist.
