BP guy told us about a garden, and on his vague descriptions, and picking up extra clues each time i got petrol, in just under two months we were able to find this amazing garden. It was everything he said it was, and more. Lush grass, even in this horrible drought and the terrible heatwave Adelaide has just been through, was the first thing to surprise us as we approached. But as the garden drops away down the hill, it just grows denser and greener. Small paths connect larger paths, rocks provide steps down parts of the hill, and if you search far enough, dark caves can be found. I’m fairly sure in winter there would be a waterfall over the entrance of one of the caves. Simply amazing.
Also, the view is.. well, spectacular. During the day AND at night. Mt Lofty is nice, but this is something to see. At night, a 180 degree view of the city shows the millions of lights that stretch until the ocean. And in such a secluded area - nothing commercialised like at Mount Lofty. I think the lack of other people was nice, too.
However, a human element could be seen. Trampled grass, presumably from other admirers. A discarded take-away cup. A touch of graffiti in the still beautiful caves. But a feeling of secretism was still there. Like it was our own private garden.
A Secret Garden.
Wonderful.
