Rollei Nightbird, Minolta SRT-101.

My first attempt at shooting Nightbird was a large failure. They need to be way more overexposed, otherwise they turn out like this - grainy and dark.

I can’t decide whether I want to shoot predominately film or digital in Hong Kong. I love love love shooting film.. But at the same time, I’m not sure if I trust myself enough to shoot mostly in film. After all, I don’t know when I’ll be back in Hong Kong! :/

Negative Scans

I finally got around to buying myself a film scanner - the Epson V330, to be exact - and I’m going through and noticing a lot of scratched negatives. Some are so badly scratched, that I’m realising that they didn’t actually give me any prints for that picture - obviously the scratches were clear on the picture and they didn’t want complaints. I’d just been going to Big W to get the C-41 stuff processed, but I’m rethinking that and am going to be taking everything to Atkins Technicolour. I can’t help but be frustrated - I’d always been wary about the way I see them handle the film, but now that I have proof that it’s damaging it, it’s just not worth going back!

(And yes, I am terribly annoyed at the scratched negative. I don’t think I’ll be going back there anytime soon)

"Man Up" isn't half bad.

  • Grant: I'm sorry I was so much bigger than you yesterday.
  • Kenny: That's OK, I'm sorry I hurt your ankle when you stepped on my face.
